This week on From Darkness to Life, Sylvain Bourgon joins Poncho to share a journey from childhood poverty, violence, and early drug use to a life he once struggled to imagine. Homeless at fifteen, Sylvain kept attending school while trying to find somewhere to sleep... and a reason to believe his future could be different.
Meeting his (as yet not known) future wife Cindy, offered a glimpse of a caring family. A teacher’s intervention, support from others, and years of therapy also helped him move forward. But building a family and career did not mean the past disappeared. Sylvain reflects on grief, faith, and the old messages about his worth that can still resurface.
With honesty about his mistakes and the work of healing, he explores a “perfectly imperfect” life. Hear why connection matters, what he would tell his younger self, and how reaching out became part of his path forward.
